On a grey and chilly day the Oxfordshire team took on a very good Warwickshire side.

The reliable foursome partnership of Sally Woolven and Clare Dodds were given a stern test and after a tremendous battle narrowly missed out on the points.

Maggie Findlay and new squad member Freya Coughlan fought hard but were up against two very good opponents.

The singles were playing well on a slow course because of the Sunday rain and overcast conditions and despite a sterling effort were overcome by the best of Warwickshire.

Despite the loss, the team were smiling and ready for their afternoon match.

The foursomes put up a good flight but the Berkshire pairs were in tune and took the 2 points on offer.

The singles were extremely close, Niki Sutton went 4 down early on but battled tremendously to get herself back to dormie 2 on the 17th, a great effort. Kate Evans was also having a tough test but was 1up on 18. After making par her partner putted leaving her ball right on the edge of the hole, as they were about to call the match the wind blew and the ball dropped agonisingly into the cup leaving the match halved. Millie Anderson was up most of the way but her opponent would not cede, taking the match to the 18th, Millie parred under pressure to take the points for Oxfordshire. An exciting end to the first day of CMW.
