Frilford Heath claim President's Trophy on 21st hole in final match
20 August, 2024
Studley Wood Golf Club were the hosts for this year’s President’s Trophy Finals Day on Monday 19th August 2024.In contrast to the hot conditions experienced the previous week by the Captain’s Trophy finalists,
this was a somewhat cooler and much windier day. This provided more challenging conditions for
the semi-finalists from Tadmarton, Henley, Frilford and Huntercombe.
The competitive matches were each played out to the final few holes before there were definitive
results. Congratulations to all of the teams that played and made the Finals Day a display of great
golf.
The teams from Henley and Frilford Heath were eventually victorious and after a short break for
lunch, were back on the course to compete for the Trophy.
The Final was a tight affair and produced some amazing golf. The first two matches were shared, one
win for each club. This meant that the destination of the Trophy rested with the final pairing. After
18 holes the match was all square.
With the following spectators in awe at the level of golf still being played, it took 3 extra holes for
Frilford to gain an advantage and take the honour.
Our thanks to Studley Wood GC and their staff for accommodating us and catering for us so well.
