Kate Evans wins Centenary Trophy '24
21 April, 2024
On a lovely dry and sunny day that hopefully signals the start of spring 2024, Frilford Heath Golf Club hosted the county's annual Centenary Trophy competition.
The par-70 Green course was in great condition considering the winter we have all endured. The greens were fast and true, and the pins in some very challenging positions. 13 players representing 8 different clubs took part, including defending champion Caroline Johnson (Tadmarton Heath), 2023 County Champion Megan Bishop (The Wychwood) and recently crowned Oxfordshire Girls Champion 2024 Lara Murphy (Frilford Heath).
Home advantage played out well for Kate Evans (Frilford Heath) who led the field home with a gross score of 74. Second overall went to Caroline Johnson with 78, with Tracy Roberts (Frilford Heath) and Karen Pollard (Henley) tied 3rd with 82.
In the nett, Kate once again prevailed with a nett score of 70. 2nd place (and therefore the prize) went to Caroline Johnson (nett 73), beating Sarah Clarke (Hadden Hill, nett 73) on countback.
Completing the clean sweep, the "oldest swinger in town" (her own words) Kate Evans also took the honours in the Seniors division. Caroline was 2nd, and Tracy Roberts 3rd on countback from Karen Pollard.
Centenary Trophy gross winner - Kate Evans
Centenary Trophy nett winner - Caroline Johnson
Centenary Trophy Seniors winner - Tracy Roberts
Thank you to Frilford Heath GC for hosting the competition, and to President Christine Bishop and Competition Secretary Dawn Tucker for their organisation and support throughout the day.
