Oxfordshire's girls defeat the boys once again!
02 April, 2025
On Sunday 30th March, Oxfordshire Girls played Oxfordshire Boys at Tadmarton Heath in the annual fixture that has been held for 10 years. The course was in very good condition and the sun was shining, but a stiff wind added to the challenge.
8 girls representing 4 different clubs played in pairs in a fourball better ball matchplay format. With a mixture of experienced junior county players and 1 girl making her debut for the team, each pair included a player with previous or local knowledge of the course to help the team start strong and finish stronger.
The 2025 Junior Girls Captain Kirsty Soffe (Burford) was joined by Phoebe Simons and Amelia Sambrook (both from Tadmarton Heath), Ava & Sienna Fegan-Smith (Studley Wood), and Ali Dolamore, Issy O'Neill and Anoushka Francis (all from Drayton Park).
Despite the gusty conditions, the girls performed spectacularly, and none of the matches went the full distance - suffice to say they were victorious in all the pairings, with the worst result being a 4&3 win!
The overall result - the Oxfordshire Girls won 4-0 to maintain their unbeaten record in the fixture.
Thanks to Tadmarton Heath for hosting the fixture and being so welcoming to our county teams. Thanks also to all the parents and supporters. Well played girls - looking forward to a successful 2025!!
