Second team make winning start to the season with victory against Berkshire 

We were lucky to find a warm sunny day over the Easter Weekend to play our first match of the season.

The squad of Caroline Johnson, Megan Bishop, Mairi Weir, Sarah Hillas, Lara Murphy, Tracy Roberts and Lydia Avann drew on members of Tadmarton Heath, Henley, The Wychwood and Frilford Heath Golf Clubs. The squad comprised youth and experience, with the younger members having progressed from junior into senior ranks.

The morning saw three foursomes matches with Megan and Mairi leading the way, Sarah and Lydia following behind, and Caroline and Tracy completing the set. We were pleased to record a 2-1 in the foursomes.

The six afternoon single matches saw Lara replace Tracy. Lara was taking part in her first senior match and did extremely well to record a drawn match. The afternoon singles finished 3.5-2.5 in Oxfordshire favour, with some extremely strong performances from Lydia and Mairi, and a battling victory on the 18th from Sarah.

Result: Oxfordshire win, 5.5-3.5

All in all, the day produced some great golf from our team, some tough and well fought battles, and a match played in the right spirit. We were grateful to have the support of our new President, Christine Bishop, seeing off our afternoon players, as well as the presence of our County Captain, Caroline Pearce, for much of the day, and several other supporters. It was lovely to see everyone dotted around the course; it was very welcome and much appreciated.
