Sienna wins the Junior Captain's Trophy

Congratulations to Sienna Fegan-Smith who became our 2022 Pre-Handicap Champion and won the Junior Captain's Trophy on Sunday.This was a very close event with the winning score being decided on countback between 3 players and a difference of only 2 shots between all the girls. Well done to all the girls - they each played some wonderful golf shots on the Blenheim Course at Kirtlington Golf Club. Our thanks to Kirtlington and to all the adult helpers - we could not run these events without you!

Only 18 holes of golf today to finish the tournament.Day 3 Oxfordshire v Worcestershire & HerefordshireAmy & Viki were our first foursomes pairing and despite a valiant effort lost 3&2 having clawed back from a difficult front 9. Caroline & Freya came so close to victory in a very tight match and only lost by 1 hole. Niki was first out in the singles and always looked as though she would emerge the winner. Another day of Foursomes and Singles at Leamington & County GC for our squad and the weather is still being kind.Day 2 AM v BerkshireAmy & Viki led the way with a convincing performance earning them a 4&3 win. Caroline & Sarah matched that victory in style. In the singles, Niki halved her match and Kate, having led earlier, narrowly lost by 1 hole on the 18th. The Midlands South County Week swung into action at Leamington & County Golf Club today enjoying another fine day of intermittent sunshine but chilly overcast conditions. We were delighted  to host our Junior Girls’ Championship at Oxford Golf Club with a small group of just 8 girls this year.  The afternoon began rather dubiously with showers but fortunately it was not long before the sun shone. The course was challenging with quick greens testing the putting; nevertheless some wonderful golf shots were played by all girls! On a very wet and windy day at North Oxford GC, Wendy Smith from Studley Wood GC returned a magnificent gross of 91 (nett 67) to take home the Bronze Championship Trophy and the Bronze Medal.Also in the prizes were Ruth Mackay from Drayton Park, Madeleine Deller from Studley Wood and Maureen Rhymes from North Oxford. Well done to everyone who played in such challenging weather condtions and our thanks to North Oxford Golf Club for looking after us so well.

Congratulations to Niki Sutton from Frilford Heath GC. After 36 holes at Burford GC, she posted a winning gross score of 164 and won on countback from Morag Broom (Henley) and Millie Anderson (Badgemore Park) to take her first County Championship.In the Mid-silver event, Melanie Mutch from Burford GC won the Scratch Trophy with a gross score of 90, winning on count back from Jane Hackett (Tadmarton Heath).
